Print Info

At Woodstock Graphics Studio we use the latest in digital printing technology to deliver cutting edge digital printing options to fine artists who require archival digital output which exceeds the quality of gelatin silver printing.

Epson Ultrachrome 8-color inks use pigments rather than dyes; they have a lifespan of over 100 years, exceeding Iris and other forms of printing. Capable of extraordinary tonal delineation and sharpness, these prints can be compared to dye transfer or platinum prints with the added advantage of digital control. This is the third generation of pigmented inks; color gamut is greatly expanded, blacks are richer and black & white images are printable as a neutral, full range image. We use Hahnemühle fine art, 100% rag papers, made in Germany, and other imported and domestic fine art papers.

There is simply no other printing process that compares with it.

Fine Art Exhibition Prints:

Despite rigorous controls and testing procedures, don't forget that printing is a highly subjective process. To accommodate this fact, we begin with a proof print: made from either a raw scan, or a modified file which you have provided. Examining the proof allows us, with your input, to make our print match your file. Changes to the file can be made including burning, dodging and more complex forms of image manipulation. (These may involve additional charges).
Proofs are made on the same paper as the final print. You approve the proof prior to final printing. Proofing is regarded as one step in the creation of the final print; WGS does not offer proofing only. If you choose more than one paper or change papers, a separate proofing charge will apply for each paper.

Graphics Prints:
Graphics Prints are straight prints, without color or tonal corrections, and without proofing. We use Epson Premium glossy or Epson Enhanced Matte Papers. Cost is much lower than Fine Art Exhibition prints.

Advanced sorts of manipulation, extending beyond the realms of the "digital darkroom," include all sorts of compositing and digital effects. We do this work at Woodstock Graphics Studio, as well as electronic retouching, page layout and design. Cost is $75/hour or fraction thereof. Contact us for estimates and time parameters. Scans which you provide may require additional "spotting" to remove dust marks, billed at $35/hour, or fraction thereof.

Thank you.
